Virtual Tasting Series in partnership with Benjamin Clark of Meritage Wine Management: A Taste of the Tuscany

This month we will be exploring Italy and are excited to present "A Taste of the Tuscany".

This is an amazing area producing some of the world's top wines in the appellations such as Brunello di Montalcino and Chianti as well as many others. As an added bonus we will be featuring a Sommelier Selected 2oz. luxury sample per tasting set. If you are sharing this tasting with someone and would like to add on an additional 2oz. luxury sample, no problem just let us know. We are excited to share this tasting with you!

The tasting will consist of four wines and take place on Wed. 5/19/21 @ 6:00 PM from the comfort of your own home. Total Wine Price is $95 + tax. To order your set of wines, please contact Rumors at (360) 480-5030.

THE WINES FEATURED:

Castello di Ama, 'Al Poggio' Chardonnay 2018 - $44

92 Points

"There are Chardonnays from Tuscany that taste like Chardonnays from any other part of the world, and then there are Chardonnays that taste like they come from Tuscany. This wine is firmly in that second group. The distinctively territory specific elements you get here resemble apricot and peach, with light dustings of Italian herbs such as fresh oregano and rosemary sprig. I also note the pristine mineral notes that frame this vintage. There is a fun blast of citrus that reminds me of those sun-kissed lemon trees grown in red clay pots that you see all over this part of Tuscany."

Montepeloso, A Quo Toscana 2018 - $22

92 Points

An equal split of Cabernet Sauvignon and Montepulciano with 20 % Sangiovese, 10% Marselan and 10% Alicante. "The 2018 A Quo is rich and explosive in the glass, with superb presence and tons of intensity, but all in the gracious style of the year. Crushed flowers, sweet red berry fruit and spice are front and center. In 2018, A Quo is supremely delicious." This is one of the greatest values in artisanal wine today!

Rodano, Chianti Classico 2017- $22

90 Points

A traditional Chianti Classico, a blend of Sangiovese with ten percent of Canaiolo and Colorino. He ages the wine for 15 months in large Slavonian oak casks, giving a powerful wine with grippy, ferrous tannins and dark fruit flavors layered with notes of graphite and dried cherry.

Sassetti Livio Pertimali, Brunello di Montalcino 2015 - $84

2oz Luxury Sample add on $7

98 Points

"There’s something ethereal in the nose with flowers, cherries, strawberries and shitake mushrooms. This grows on the palate with super tannin and fruit structure. So much berry flavor and round, caressing tannins that fill your mouth. Tight at the end. This needs four to five years to show its true greatness." Drinking window 2023-2050+

These wines will last for a few days after the tasting so if you don't finish, not to worry. They will likely show better on day 2 anyway, or just open what you like and save the rest for later!

This is sure to be a tasting event you will not want to miss and we look forward to seeing you all (Virtually) then!
